Remains Atlantikwall on map

Heritage House South Holland and Atlantikwall Heritage Line have mapped out the still visible and interesting remnants of the Atlantic Wall in the province of South Holland. The result is an informative description of the defense line and a map with interesting locations. Of course, the Atlantikwall Museum Noordwijk is not lacking.
Around Hoek van Holland a 30-kilometer bicycle route has been set out which shows parts of the defense line. The cycling route and overview map are presented on 8 May at the fort in Hoek van Holland and can be ordered via the internet at the Heritage House or available from various museums.

Museum Noordwijk transfers WW2 material to the Atlantic Museum Noordwijk Foundation

From the view that these materials may fit better in the collection of the Atlantic Museum Noordwijk Foundation, Museum Noordwijk donated various objects and documents from the period 1940 – 1945 to the Foundation on Thursday 6 March. These include various display signs, packets of surrogate cigarettes, a blackout light bulb, a yellow felt Star of David, a crystal receiver. In time, these materials can be seen in the Atlantikwall Museum Noordwijk. The Foundation is extremely pleased with this gift and with it the expansion of the collection.

Roof S414

Company Haasnoot Bruggen started with the construction of a roof for the fire control bunker. This was not equipped with a roof during the war. However, this causes flooding during rain. That is why it was decided to place a steel roof on the bunker in original design.

At the company Haasnoot Bruggen they are busy with the construction of the roof for the fire control station S414.

Paint

Painting the interior of the fire control post is a big job for the volunteers, which also requires a lot of paint. Sikkens has provided paint for this free of charge, for which the Foundation is very grateful to them.

Bed linen

In December, the beds in the fire control post, thanks to the sewing of Joke Heus, are provided with bedding.

Delivery of concrete slabs

In July concrete slabs were supplied for the restoration of the collapsed parts of the corridors north of the fire control post.

The plates are placed at the location of sagged metal grids in the main corridor. With this the system is connected again so that the sand from the northern corridor can be safely removed.

Work outside S414

For many years we had flooding in the bunker after heavy rain showers. In June, the front of the fire control post was taken care of. The exterior of the S414 is covered with sponsored roofing. We hope that the fluid nuisance in the fire control post is now a thing of the past.

The S414 completely dug freely at the front to apply the roof covering.

Rays S414

In April the ceilings of the S414 were blasted by firm Huisman B.V. After this the ceiling could be painted. This makes the rusty ceilings neatly white.

Company Huisman bv has made materials available to sand the ceiling of the fire control post.
